Beyond Boxes and Arrows

We often want to look at our organizations, our teams, ourselves, in an org chart or boxes and arrows view. We’re all squares, or circles, the occasional diamond, and we all connect or are above or below someone. It’s representative of something… maybe? It’s a diagram… certainly. But is it really helpful in helping someone understand an organization, what an organization stands for, and how an organization might live and breathe?

I recently came across another way to look at things that resonated with me:

It’s a sketch, an artful depiction of an organization, a community. It shows who they are and what they stand for. What actions they are taking to live up to their beliefs. How they are who they are.

As leaders, we all strive to represent, relay and connect with our purpose, our actions and our future, within the context of our world. What better way to show it than through something like this- and how much more beautiful and relatable than boxes and arrows.

I’m curious to hear your comments below.

(and give us a clap or follow if you found this valuable!)
